How to fill the screed

Alignment of the floors is the work that can and should be done independently. This work is certainly not so simple physically, but it does not cause serious problems, subject to simple technology.

We will consider a classic screed, that is, a screed with a thickness of 6 to 30 millimeters.

So, for work we will need:

1. Cement;

2. Sand;

3. A container for kneading the solution;

4. Kelma (trowel) for laying out the mixture;

5. Drill (or perforator) using the nozzle (mixer);

6. Light profile for obtaining the plane of the floor;

7. Level for setting profiles;

8. Rule for “tightening” the solution.

Prepare the surface. First, the old coating is removed and even if it requires an old screed if it is in a deplorable state. Maybe you have an old screed in excellent condition, then it is reasonable to consider the option of using self -leveling bulk floors. Carefully inspect the floor for the presence of holes and cracks. You do not want to fill the ceilings and neighbors with a finished solution. The neighbors will not be delighted, and the material will leave more. After that, collect dust (you can vacuum cleaner) and be sure to primer. After proper preparation, you will not have to return to the first stage.

To mark the floor, we use a hydraulicarian, a laser level or planner of planes to buy which you can buy in a construction store. Thus, we find out the minimum and maximum thickness of our screed and, as a result, the volume of the required material.

The next step is the display of “beacons”. For such work, special profiles have been developed, which, by the way, are called – beaches. If you have, for example, a starting ceiling profile at hand, then you can use it. There are a lot of ways to fasten the beacons – some builders use a thick solution for this, some use adjustable screws, some use lining, fixing them with alabastr. The basic requirements are accurate adjustment in height and the stiffness of fixation. Attention, do not use wood as linings, remember that the tree is deformed under the influence of moisture, which will necessarily lead to damage to all work.

The solution is prepared from Portland cement and construction sand (construction sand is usually river, mined from the bottom of the rivers and passes the cleaning) in a ratio of 1: 3. So, we fall asleep into the container cement with sand and mix until smooth in color. Spend more time on this procedure so that the mixture turns out to be homogeneous. If you use the finished mixture, this step can be excluded, since the factory is mixed quite well. Add water from the calculation one and a half to two liters for every 10 kg of the mixture. Next, mix for about five minutes, let the mixture stand for five minutes then then mix again. The solution is ready.

Tightening. Put the solution into the space between the lighthouses, level the cell, so that it is slightly higher than the lighthouses. And start pulling the excess on yourself by the rule (from this and the name of the work) putting it on the lighthouses. At the same time, make movements left and right with an amplitude of 15-20 centimeters.

After the screed hards a little, you can pull the guide profiles, but if they do not interfere with further work, you can not get them.

In order for the strength of the screed to be quite high, not to crack, it is necessary to moisten it 2-3 times a day for a week. The solution will already be strong after 24-27 days, so subsequent work is recommended to be carried out three weeks after pouring.

As already mentioned, this work is not so complicated technologically, so you will definitely succeed.
