Concrete and his fellow is a cement mortar, this is almost an integral part of any construction, both industrial and private, even during small apartment repairs among other materials, you can always see a bag or bag of cement. Talking about their importance is simply ridiculous due to extreme obviousness.
When planning construction, today there will be no works to buy a cement mortar or concrete at economically intelligent prices – the main thing is to turn to a deserved trust that has proven itself in the market, to the manufacturer.
Since such confusion takes place, let’s try to deal with the main features of concrete and cement mortar, briefly clarify what is the difference between them.
The main reason for the mixing of concepts is cement, which is part of both cement mortar and concrete, as the main component. Another thing is that in the composition of concrete, in addition to cement, sand and water, in certain proportions, as in a solution, the most important component includes a filler in the form of various gravel fractions (best, solid granite) or slag, which provides a concrete solution after its hardening is a special strength and resistance to loads, which allows you to use it during the construction, in particular, large supporting structures. For the production of particularly high -quality concrete, various kinds of reinforcing additives for greater strength and plasticizers are widely introduced into its composition – for the best adhesion of concrete with reinforcement elements and giving the final product of some plasticity for better resistance to external factors.
But what is the cement mortar?
A share of cement mortar accounts for a significant part of the finishing work, pouring seams between concrete elements of the structure, plastering walls, etc.p. For a significant improvement in the qualities of the solution, its main components – cement and sand are introduced by special mineral additives (silica, flying ash, lime, small slag), giving greater strength and plasticity, and together – resistance to external influences. For example, the plaster improved by mineral additives does not crack and does not paint, unlike the “ordinary”.
Thus, the main differences between concrete and cement mortar are, nevertheless, the scope, consistency and durability (concrete is even hardened over time).
