Construction of a Russian bath

Although the current baths are not much reminiscent of log huts, everyday life in which our grandfathers-great-grandfathers once washed, becoming a certain likeness of the modernly equipped containers block, but the very spirit of the Russian bathhouse was still preserved! And today, the main rule of the bath, as always has been and remains, is the beneficial effect of hot steam on the human body. The spirit of Russian is alive!

The “heart” of the bath, of course, is a stove-kamenka. When he was erected manually, but today there is no particular need for this: the modern market is quite saturated with such a product – heels of any configuration, so you can easily select the right. In addition to “firewood” stoves, today gas and electric stumps are made. Their heat transfer is much larger than that of wood stoves, based on the difference in temperature regime during fuel combustion.

The walls of the Russian bath are being built from coniferous trees, preferably grown in the northern zones, since their wood is characterized by increased strength and hardness due to a low level of moisture content. The logs need to be harvested from the winter, strictly ensuring that they have as few resin -sized pockets as possible on them. For the bath, the “golden middle” is best suited, that is, the middle part of the tree trunk, and not the basal or apical part. Thanks to this, the bathhouse will delight you with its warmth for a long time and simple, without bending, for a long time. We must not forget about the drying of logs, although soundly dried wood and is more expensive, but you will not be disturbed by rotting crowns.

Today, a profiled beam is also used to build baths, which increases their durability and facilitates construction. Yes, and such a container block will cost you much cheaper: there is no need to fit the walls, which is why they are easier, and the base of the bath is easier (columnar foundation). However, it is not necessary to save on it – it is cheaper to make it soundly once than then redo it ten times.

For the internal cladding of the walls of the bath, it is advisable to use wood with a high degree of heat capacity, but low thermal conductivity so that the steam does not disappear – the life -giving spirit of the Russian bathhouse. For this, aspen, linden and cedar are more suitable for this, since they do not emit resins, do not lay down, do not heat up to high temperatures.

The floor in the bath can be anything, but necessarily warm, since your mood depends on the warmth of the legs during the bath procedure. The warm floor is made in two layers, taking into account the intermediate insulating layer. But the lamps select special – adapted to moist rooms, with muffled light. To ventilate the steam room, one ventilation hole equipped with a special plug will be enough. The ceiling of the bath (for the best heat – and vapor barrier) must be carefully covered with aluminum foil.
