Paul in the hallway

What points should be taken into account when choosing the material of the flooring in the hallway? First of all, one should proceed for considerations of practicality. Therefore, we advise you to pay attention to wear -resistant materials, which are less susceptible to damage and erasure and are easily washed. Consider such flooring in the hallway in more detail. Linoleum for the hallway

One of the most familiar types of flooring, which is used in the hallway, is considered linoleum. In the modern building materials market, it is represented by two types – natural (based on traffic jams, wood flour, resin, chalk) and artificial (synthetic). Natural linoleum is not afraid of moisture and dirt, it is environmentally friendly and durable. But the price of natural material is always higher than for its artificial analogues. In addition, the nitrinoleum does not differ in the wealth of the color palette, and to preserve the presentable appearance of it, it is periodically required to rub with mastic. Artificial linoleum covers for floors also have its advantages. It is much cheaper, represented by a diverse color scheme. Moisture, scratches, dents are not afraid of artificial linoleum, it will easily wash and last up to 15 years.

The main criterion when choosing linoleum is its wear resistance, which is determined by thickness (in mm.) the work layer of the material. All other things equal, the thicker the work layer (varies in the range of 0.15 – 0.7 mm), the better the coating will cope with the load. Depending on this parameter, the artificial linoleum coating will be divided into groups: household, semi -commercial and commercial use. For gender in the hallway, it is recommended to choose a coating related to the category of semi -commercial, which will allow during operation to withstand a sufficiently intense load characteristic of the hallway.

Ceramic tiles

Ceramic (tile) tiles – a variant of the popular flooring in the hallway. The tile managed to prove itself for use in places subject to various loads. As a cover for floors in the hallway, the tiles are selected depending on wear resistance (graded according to class). The most fragile tile belongs to the first class. The most durable – to the V class, it is successfully applied in places of the most intensive load, even at stations. As a flooring in the hallway of your apartment, tiles of the III or IV class are quite suitable.

We also advise when choosing a ceramic coating to evaluate the stability of materials to chemical effects. Today, wet cleaning in the hallway often occurs using chemically active detergents, so avoid the most unstable to class D chemisters, and dwell on persistent C-a. The most persistent class AA, but for domestic purposes it is practically not used.

If you want to avoid sliding when walking on wet tiles, we recommend that when choosing, in addition, according to criteria such as the relief and uterity of the surface of the tile.

Porcelain stoneware

Ceramic granite – unique material. It was created from natural components but in artificial conditions. Porcelain stoneware is a very strong monolithic slabs that have a special crystalline shine on the cut. This material is a record holder among wear resistance, which explains its high demand for flooring in the hallway and other places where strength is especially important. As well as already considered types of flooring, porcelain stoneware is easy to care. This material is the dream of any designer, as it is represented by a variety of different colors and textures.

In the area of the hallway located in the immediate vicinity of the front door, a relief ceramic granite is especially relevant, for better “adhesion” of the soles of shoes with a floor, especially in rainy times.

Laminate in the hallway.

Laminated floors in the hallway – this option is also not uncommon. Before you choose the laminate you like, evaluate its load class. As a floor in the hallway, it is recommended to use class 31-32 material, which is characterized by increased wear resistance. It is important that the laminated coating is waterproof, then even under the influence of excess moisture the floors will not be crumpled and do not swell. And, of course, the key to the long service of the laminate will be proper care. Laminate laying

Parquet

Parquet as a floor in the hallway is more exotic than rationality. We have already mentioned that the material of the flooring in this zone should be strong and practical, that the parquet is not fully characterized. Of course, the parquet coating is beautiful, but it will cost it not cheap.

If you still decide to opt for the floor in the hallway of your house on this type of coating, we recommend that you purchase not a piece parquet, but a rather massive parquet board with a large thickness of the useful layer, which allows you to withstand several changes in the future.

To protect the parquet from moisture, it must be covered with varnish, and let it be a little from dust and dirt, but it will save the rug.

Carpet

Carpet (carpet) is another option for flooring for the hallway. Like linoleum, it is natural and artificial. The natural type of carpet is more picky: it stores dents for a long time, quickly absorbs water, while slowly dries. And it’s expensive. But the carpet is artificial, except for its budget price, there are a number of advantages: it does not make it, it is easy to clean, insects will not dwell here. For gender in the hallway, it is better to choose a reliable tissue carpet with a high density of loops and a small pile.

Design

The floor design in the hallway should perform not only a functional purpose, but also aesthetic. Unfortunately, not all compatriots can boast of large apartments. If you want to visually increase the width of the elongated corridor, then this is possible if you lay the tile or laminate in the diagonal or transverse directions.

It is important to take into account the color of the furniture installed in the hallway, it is good if the flooring is organically combined with the color scheme of the interior. The game of various colors and shades will create the effects of increasing and expanding the space of your hallway, which is especially important for small apartments. The darker the material, the darker and less your hallway will be, in this case, you can add additional artificial lighting. Light tones in the interior will visually increase the size of the room. A suitable color scheme for the floor in the hallway can be cold halftones: gray, gray-blue, light brown, beige.

Visually, the space can also be increased by laying the same flooring in places of exits to other rooms of the apartment.

If the area allows, you can use the combination of different materials. For example, a combination of laminate and tiles or linoleum and laminate will help to achieve the effect of separation into two functional zones: the hallway and hall itself. When combining various materials, remember that it is better to linen the input zone itself with the most resistant coatings (tiles, laminate, porcelain tile).DIY Herring Return
